The SentWell team is based in Málaga province in southern Spain.  It’s beautiful!  We’d love to show off our area and for you to come and encounter amazing scenery and hike some beautiful trails in great company.  

Encounter Málaga takes place almost entirely outside.  It’s a retreat for men who love to get outside and spend time in nature.  It’s also for those who don’t get outside very often but know it will be good for their soul (trust us - it will be!)  

What can I expect?

We’ll walk around 50-60 km over the week and there will be a couple of challenging days of hiking.  However, this retreat is accessible to almost everyone (some just may need a little more training than others!)  There will also be times to sit in nature and reflect, to pray, to journal, to be still.  

The group size will be a maximum of 8 men - all serving cross-culturally in circumstances similar to yours.  We’ll have times of intentional conversation, chat and laughter and space for solitude and silence.  

Our theme for the week will be simply to create space for us to become aware of neglected areas in our lives and needs not being met.  There will be no long talks or workshops to attend.  Each day there will be simple reflection to provide a focus for walks or times of contemplation in nature. 

We will be based each night in Alhaurín de la Torre and will travel to discover the best of the surrounding area including El Torcal de Antequera, Sierra de Mijas, Caminito del Rey, El Chorro and Sierra de las Nieves and also Málaga city.

Travel to/from Encounter

Encounter will be based in Alhaurin de la Torre, about 15 minutes from the Málaga airport. Málaga is well-served by many international carriers and connects with dozens of European countries with good onward connections to cities outside of Europe.

Transfers are available from the airport or Málaga’s Maria Zambrano train station on arrival day and departure day.  These transfers are free of charge.

Please plan to arrive *Sunday evening at the airport or train station as the retreat will start on Monday. Please book your departures, by flight or train, to leave after 5pm on *Friday. (If you need to stay until Saturday additional cost may be added.)

STEP 1:

Register:  Fill out the online registration form and wait for confirmation of approval by email from the SentWell team. Registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Space is limited!

STEP 2:

Pay: Once you have received registration approval from SentWell, you have two payment options:  

1) You can either pay in US dollars by clicking on the PAY button below or you may pay in euros.  

2) If you would like to pay in euros, please get in touch with us: maya.gancheva@novo.org.  

STEP 3:

Book flights or transportation:  Once your registration has been approved, and received a receipt of payment for the event, you may proceed with booking your flights for the event.

Please plan to arrive at Malaga airport (or train station) on *Sunday evening. If you are traveling by car directly to Alhaurin de la Torre, please plan to arrive by 7pm.

You may plan your departing flight or train after 5pm on *Friday.
